About

The Durham Democratic Committee is a group of local residents who love Durham and believe that with community input it can become an even better place to live.

We focus on issues affecting the town of Durham (comprised of East Durham, Cornwallville, Oak Hill and Durham hamlets) rather than on state and national issues. Our objectives are to:

      • Create a forum for discussion of local issues that will ensure that people are informed, get involved, and most importantly, actually vote.
      • Get Democrats elected to the Durham Town Board. (Currently, all five Town Board members are Republicans. Although they are good people, they hardly ever generate new ideas to tackle the many challenges that Durham faces.)
      • Ensure that Durham acquires cell phone service and fast reliable Internet on all roads, a community center, and a health facility. (Right now, Durham has none of these.)
      • Re-elect Congressman Antonio Delgado (NY19) and State Senator Michelle Hinchey (District 46), two impressive Democrats whose districts include Durham and who understand Greene County well.
